Here's some info on UP recycling in honor of Earth Day.
specific items that we take for recycling:
| Used Cell Phones | Digital Cameras with accessories |
| Video Game Consoles with accessories | Laptops with power cords |
| Video Games with case | PDA's/Palm Pilots with accessories |
| Empty Printer Cartridges | iPods with accessories |
| GPS Systems | DVD Movies with original packaging |
info on why to recycle:
- Every year, 300 million cartridges end up in landfills worldwide.
- Almost eight cartridges are thrown away in the U.S. every second. That is almost 700,000 per day.
- It takes almost 3.5 quarts of oil to produce one laser cartridge. This is almost a gallon of ice cream.
- A half a gallon of oil is saved each time a laser carriage is re-manufactured.
- A cartridge takes at least 1,000 years to decompose. That means a cartridge thrown away today will not decompose until you have Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great....Grandchildren.
- On average, Americans purchase a new cell phone every 18 months.
